They have a limited amount of white on the muzzle and below the knees, and if you see a species with white elsewhere, this is not a purebred animal.

This breed in many ways owes its remarkable traits and qualities to the ancestors. The gene pool of this breed is very varied containing Arab, Barb and Turk blood of feral Mustangs and mounts of Native Americans mixed with the Thoroughbred and other English and Irish breeds. The official registry was started only in the 1940’s. Nowadays, there are two main types within the breed: stock and racing types. They perform specialized tasks and differ slightly in body build and size. Both types are characterized by intelligence and friendly disposition and are popular as family pets.
