American Quarter Horses
American quarter horses were, and are, the object of many pictures and paintings; the foal is somehow a symbol of Western America.
This breed was originally created for sprinting short distances, but nowadays it’s very versatile. It’s praised both as a race mount and for its performance in rodeos, shows and as a working ranch stock. The compact and well-muscled body of these equines is suited for speedy maneuvers required in calf roping, reining, cutting, barrel racing and other western riding events. The breed is especially good at competitions involving live cattle. Animals of racing type have longer legs and are leaner than their stock type counterparts. Hunter type is slimmer and characterized by excellent jumping abilities.

American Quarter Horses -
pictures, foal
This is a relatively small species, and it stands no more than 15 hands tall. These animals feature heavy muscle and unbelievable stamina, and were originally bred for competitive racing. Though compact in size, they are capable of enduring tremendous strains. They have a short head, small and dark eyes, small and pointed ears, and there are white markings on the muzzle and below the knees. They are very easy-going and tamable, but require qualified maintenance and fair handling. They may suffer from a number of hereditary diseases.
