Horse Supply
No horse can be kept without necessary horse supply. Horse care is very complicated and time-taking, especially for novice horse owners. Both show and working horses need a warm stable, proper diet, regular cleaning and enough exercise. Racing and show horses need special care and training. A high quality horse is a good investment only if it’s provided with proper care. A horse with a good ancestry, but abandoned and not cared for properly will never be successful in competitions.
The necessary horse supply is chosen according to the task you plan for your horse. Simple and universal things are suited for working horses, but show and racing horses need specialized gear. Anyone who wishes to ride a horse for pleasure or participate in competitions will need individual horse supplies. The main things for every rider are a bridle and a saddle. The choice of a bridle and a saddle depends on the need of the saddler and the horse. Other things needed for the comfort and well-being of a horse are halters, cruppers and breastplates.
A horse kept in a stable requires quality food: traditional hay and oats with pellets and grain mixes. Racehorses and show horses need special horse supply and special food. Only very quality and high energy food with supplements will allow them to perform at their peak. A horse trailer is necessary for transporting the animals to the location of the competitions. Horses kept in pasture also require hay and mineral supplements, especially in winter. Outdoor living is possible for racehorses only when the climate in mild. To protect the horses from snow and cold wind, a shelter is necessary.
A shovel, a rake and a wheelbarrow for cleaning the stable are also necessary horse supplies. A necessary piece of equipment is a hoofpick that ensures that the horse’s hooves are in good condition. Even if the horse is left without horseshoes, its hooves need at least basic care. The feet and legs of the horse need to be protected with bandages. Any horse needs regular grooming, no matter for what purposes it’s used. The minimal horse supply is a body brush or dandy brush.
